SENIOR SCAM/FRAUD/IDENTITY THEFT PREVENTION

Since 2015, the PPD volunteer program has provided more than 75 free "Scam, Fraud, and Identity Theft" presentations at the library, Petaluma Community Center, Pep Housing, Village Network, local active senior living residences and organizations such as the Rotary and Elk’s Clubs.

Addressing current internet, phone and mail scams, two volunteer teams provide a free 45-minute power-point highlighting federal, state, and local resources to assist with prevention. Funds gifted to PPF through private donations or grants support the production of marketing materials and packets that contain resources given to event attendees.

In addition, social media is used to educate the public on the current fraud/scam activity in our area and advisory posters are provided to local businesses that sell prepaid gift cards to warn community members of this type of crime.
